PROTEST
1.1
Only NASCAR or Music City Motorplex registered
car owners and drivers finishing with in five positions
behind protestee are eligible to file a protest of any
kind. The protest must be filed
within 15 minutes in writing following the finish of the
event with the NASCAR Director of Competition or
division official
1.2 Driver
which protest another competitor, will have same part(s)
inspected.
Both motors will be inspected at the same time.
1.3
Protest Fee, described below, must be deposited
in cash with the NASCAR Director of Competition before
inspection begins.
1.4
the balance of the protest fee will be:
a.) Returned to complainant
if subject car or part is illegal (minus fee)
B.) Forfeited to Car Owner
if subject car or part is legal (minus fees)
C.) On all crate engine
protests, the resealing fees and all other additional
costs (ie. Shipping, gaskets, etc.) are the
responsibility of the owner of the engine.
if subject is found to be illegal:
A.) Driver forfeits all
winnings for that program.
B.) Driver forfeits all
points for the event.
C.) The driver and/or car
may be suspended and/or fined for a period determined by
officials.
D.) The illegal parts will
be confiscated.
1.5 The “fee”
shall be for a determined protest item and may not be
transferred to another complaint.
1.6 Each
protest complaint shall have its own fee.
1.7 The
following people will be allowed to be present at
protest site: car driver, car owner, MCM tech staff,
track appointed personnel and complainant.
1.8
Car owner and/or driver may select a substitute
to take their place at the protest site if needed.
1.9
When the protesters’ part(s) are inspected, only
the protesters’ car owner and driver, MCM tech staff and
track appointed personnel will be allowed at
the protest site.
1.10
When the protestees’ part(s) are inspected, the
protesters’ car owner and driver may also be present
1.11
Any decisions, findings, results, changes,
corrections or additions will be made subject to
conditions at the time subject to approval by Official
in charge.
1.12
PROTEST FEE SCHEDULE
A.) $1,500 – Top of
Machined Engine – heads, carb, bore, stroke and etc; 30%
retained by racetrack
B.) $2,500 – Complete
Machined Engine – rods, crankshaft, camshaft and etc;
30% retained by racetrack
C.) $1,500 – Top of Crate
Engine – heads, carb, bore, stroke and etc; 30% retained
by racetrack
D.) $2,500 -
Complete Crate Engine – rods, carb, crankshaft,
camshaft and etc; 30% retained by racetrack
E.) $400 – Fuel Protest;
If total cost of testing is less than protest
fee, track will retain 30% and winner of protest will
receive all remaining money
from protest.
F.) $300 minimum – All
other items of protest; May not protest non-performance
items or parts; 30% retained by racetrack

Crate Engine Claim: $1,000.00 plus the taxed
retail price of engine as shipped from manufacturer
1.14
Carburetor Claim: Carburetor claim consists of
carburetor as run in event. All “650” carburetors
$700.00, all “450” and “500”
carburetors: $800.00.
1.15
Metering Block Claim: Carburetor metering block
claim consists of metering block as run in event -
$75.00
1.16
No protest will be accepted after qualifying nor
on non-performance parts or items.
2.
INSPECTION AND PENALTIES
2.1
Competitor Obligations - A competitor must take
whatever steps are required, including teardown of the
car, as requested by a NASCAR official to
facilitate inspection of the car.
2.2 All
competing cars will be subject to technical inspections
every night throughout the season at a time and interval
determined by the Director of
Competition. No forewarning must be made.
2.3 Any car
not conforming to the rules will be subject to several
methods of corrections or penalties.
2.4
Infractions may cause car to be disqualified, forfeiting
all points for the season, plus any moneys earned during
the immediate past race meet.
2.5
Points and moneys may be forfeited in the amount
and severity decided upon by the Track Officials and
Management.
2.6
Additional weight may be required to be added as
determined by the Director of Competition. It may be
doubled if the infraction is not corrected by the
next race meet. If not corrected by the 3rd meet, the
car will be disqualified.
2.7 All cars are
subject to material inspection by the Officials.
Workmanship and appearance may be determining factor to
whether Officials permit the car to
enter competition.
2.8
All parts declared illegal by inspection or
protest will be confiscated by Officials (EIRI)
2.9 Any
competitor failing to surrender to officials any part
and/or equipment that fail to meet NASCAR and/or Music
City Motorplex specifications will be
disqualified for entire event, and minimum two race
suspension with possible cash fine.
2.10 On all
protest or inspections, it is the driver’s duty to prove
his legality, not the Officials to prove the violation.
2.11 Any
competitor failing to have any part inspected at the
request of an official will be suspended for two events
and disqualified for entire event.
2.12 If
fuel is found to be illegal, competitor will forfeit all
winnings from the event and receive one event
suspension.
2.13 On all
crate engine inspections, both competitor protest and
track protest, if the crate engine shows evidence of any
internal component
being altered or changed from factory specifications,
minimum four (4) event suspension and/or cash fine of no
less than $500 with loss of any and/or all
parts illegal.
