1.
GREEN FLAG
A.
Start or restart of any race. At the starter’s
signal or when the yellow lights are turned off during
the parade lap, it is the starter’s signal that he is
prepared
to start the race. All cars are to
close up, hold their position and keep pace set by
caution car or the pole position lead car.
B.
Any car or cars bumping, shoving or holding up
starting procedures shall be sent to the rear of the
pack at the decision of officials.
C.
Any car jumping positions on any start will be
black flagged and sent to rear of field. No waive-by’s,
drivers must start in the position directed by scoring
or
officials
D.
On the original start, passing will be allowed
once each car has crossed the start/finish line (EIRI).
E.
One half of the field must complete one full lap
for the race to be officially underway.
F. When a
yellow or red flag is displayed on the first lap, all
cars that are able to continue, excluding car or cars
deemed cause of caution, will line up in their
original starting positions. An original restart flag
will be shown (red with white square).
G. On all
restarts, all cars must close up on the lead car nose to
tail. The lead car is to run at a moderate speed set by
the pace car until the green flag is
shown. Passing of cars and racing speed must not be
attained until green is shown. No waive by’s, driver’s
must restart in the position directed.
H. After
the yellow flag is shown, all cars will be aligned in
single file until scoring or track officials inform them
of their restart positions.
I.
Any car that fails to fall into position directed
by scoring and/or officials immediately will be black
flagged.
J. Car or
cars causing a yellow flag or receiving consolation flag
will be lined up at the tail end of the longest line,
unless determined intentional by track
officials which will result in a
one (1) lap penalty for the offending car.
K. All
divisions (except Legend, Bandoleros and Dwarfs) will
have double file restarts excluding with five (5) or
less laps remaining in feature event or
otherwise stated in a technical bulletin.
L. On
restarts as the starter displays the one to go single,
the leader will pull to the pole position with the
remainder of the field lining up according to
scoring/track officials’ direction.
Penalized cars to the end of the field behind the
lap cars.
All cars will fall into their positions immediately with
no personal discretion on inside or outside line.
(ie.
Leader will restart inside of front row, third place car
will restart from the inside of the second row and so
forth).
K. Any car
that restarts the event from a different position than
directed by scoring/track officials will be black
flagged.
M. The
start line for restarts and the initial start will be
marked accordingly exiting turn four.
N. If a
yellow flag is shown with five (5) or less laps
remaining in a feature event, the restart will be
single-file with all lead lap, then lapped then
penalized
Cars.
O. If
yellow flag is shown immediately before the white flag
in a feature event, the event will end with a green,
white, checkered finish, single-file with all lead
lap, lapped and then penalized cars.
There will be only one attempt at a green, white,
checkered finish.
If the caution flag is displayed during a green,
white checkered finish, the race is
finished and the results will revert back to the last
completed lap.
P. If the
time limit is reached during a feature event, a green,
white, checkered finish will result.
There will be only one attempt at the green,
white checkered
finish. If
the caution flag is displayed during the green, white,
checkered finish, the race is finished and the results
will revert back to the last completed lap.
Q. Pole car
on restarts will continue the pace set by the pace car
after the pace car exits the racing surface.
Passing will be allowed to the right once the
lead
car has crossed the start/finish line.
2.
YELLOW FLAG
A. The yellow flag signifies caution and this flag will
be given to the first car passing the start/finish line
immediately following the occurrence of the cause for
caution. When the yellow flag and/or lights are
displayed, all cars must slow to a cautious pace and
maintain their position. Cars are not permitted to pass
or advance their position and must maintain a reasonable
speed considering the conditions, which exist on the
track. Reasonable speed is a judgment call of the
Official in charge.
B. If a caution situation occurs or yellow flag is
displayed after the white flag has been received by the
lead car, cars are permitted to pass or advance their
positions considering the
conditions of the caution. The official finishing
positions will be as they take the checkered flag.
C. Lineup
and restart procedures will revert to the last completed
green flag lap. Scoring will be determined by officials
who have complete discretion to determine
the
positions of the cars at the time and to reposition the
cars in single file in accordance with their
determination and that decision will be final. If you
dispute your position, pull to the inside of other car
and inform you crew to inform an official.
D. Yellow
flag laps do not count unless the event is one hundred
(100) or more laps in length. (unless specified in
technical bulletin)
E. The car
or cars deemed as the cause of the caution situation
will be restarted, if able, at rear of field. This will
be a judgment decision on the part of the
track officials as to which car or cars were at fault,
and their decision will be final. Fault could be
described as the cars that caused the flag by
instigating the action or result of the action. Also, it
is the option of the officials to place all cars in
their original position if they deem so.
F. If a
yellow or red flag is displayed for objects on the
racing surface, spinouts or crashes caused by an oil or
water slick on the track, or by circumstances
beyond anyone’s control, then a “No-fault” procedure
shall be in effect and all cars (except the cars causing
the action) will retain their original positions at the
time the flag was thrown. Lineups will revert to the
last green flag lap to determine positions for the
restart.
G. No
stopping or standing on the racing surface during the
yellow. If your car has minor damage or loose parts you
may pull onto the pit road for repairs and
be realigned to the rear of the field. The race will not
be held up or delayed once the track is clear. Any car
that enters pit road must start at the rear of the
field.
H. Pit
crews may not service or repair any damaged car until
the car has been removed from the racecourse and is on
pit road.
I. Any car
or cars involved in bringing out the caution flag will
restart from the tail end of the field.
J. Any car
or cars that the track officials determine to
intentionally bring out a caution flag will be penalized
one (1) lap.
J. No
person, car owners, spectators or pit crews will be
allowed on the race track to offer any type of
assistance to any driver or perform any repairs while
the
Yellow, green or red flags are displayed unless given
expressed authority by a track official and/or
management. Violations will result in placement of the
offending car to the rear of the pack, the loss of one
or more laps, and/or disqualification of that car for
the race meet and/or cash fine.
K. If a
caution car is used, no car unless directed to do so by
an official in the caution car, may pass the caution
car. Any cars that illegally pass the caution
car or race leader will be black-flagged. The starter
will signify one lap before the green flag will again be
displayed. When a caution car is used the NASCAR
official in charge of the event will control the
position of the caution car.
L. Cars
returning to the race from pit road while the yellow or
red flag is out must wait and join the rear of the field
as directed by the official at the pit road exit.
M. Any car
causing three (3) cautions will be sent to the pits.
3.
RED FLAG
A. When the
red flag and red lights are displayed, reduce speed
immediately then slowly proceed around the track
cautiously and stop as directed. Any car or cars that
continue at racing speed or slower after the red has
been displayed will be placed at the rear of the field,
penalized a lap, or disqualified for the race and/or
meet.
B.
Once the cars have been stopped, drivers may not
move their car without expressed permission from the
official in charge to do so.
C. Any cars
having major damage or flat tire(s) must have repairs
done on pit road. If any car stops in the corners, on
backstretch or near the pit entrances and receives
assistance from their pit crews may lose one or more
laps or be disqualified from the event.
D. All
drivers must be ready to restart at command of the
starter. Lineups will revert back to the last completed
lap. Any
driver not ready to restart will go to the back of the
longest line or be disqualified from the event.
E. No work
on vehicle while red flag is displayed.
One (1) lap penalty will be enforced and/or car
and driver will be disqualified from the event.
4.
PASSING FLAG
A. The blue
flag with a diagonal yellow stripe signifies that faster
traffic is overtaking cars being signaled and that cars
being given this flag should be prepared to yield to the
bottom of the track to overtaking traffic.
B.
Any car deliberately ignoring the starter’s
signal or attempts to either hold up or block the
leader’s advance, may receive the black flag or be
reverted to the
rear
5.
BLACK FLAG
A. Black
flag means “go to pit road immediately.” Report to the
official on the pit road. This does not mean automatic
disqualification. However, failure to obey
black flag
will result in disqualification.
A black flag is sometimes displayed for the
racers safety.
B.
After receiving the black flag, the car must obey
the black flag within two (2) laps or scoring on car
will be halted and the Busch flag will be displayed
to offending car.
C.
Any car entering the pit area or garage area
must re-enter the track through pit road.
D. Any car
displaying excessive smoke will receive the black flag.
6.
BUSCH FLAG
A. If a car
ignores the black flag, a black flag with a white cross
(Busch Flag) will be displayed to inform the driver
involved that scoring has been discontinued
and the car has been disqualified.
B. This
flag will also be displayed when no consultation is
warranted and the car and driver are disqualified for
the remainder of race event.
C. Any car
endangering the safety of others because of poor
handling, defective equipment, reckless or rough driving
shall be "Busch" flagged.
D. Any car
that enters any part of the restricted area or infield
showing a display of temper by spinning about, will
receive the "Busch" flag.
E. Any
competitor that receives the Busch Flag shall
immediately report to their pit area, load car and
equipment and vacate the premises.
7.
WHITE FLAG
A. When the
white flag is displayed, it means the leader has started
his last lap.
B. In the
event a caution flag is displayed after the leader has
received the white flag, a green, white checkered finish
will result.
There will be only one
attempt at a green, white, checkered finish.
If a caution flag is displayed during the green,
white, checkered finish, the race is finished and the
results will revert back to the last completed lap.
8.
CHECKERED FLAG
A. When
checkered flag is displayed it means race is finished.
When the lead car has been completed the required
distance, the race will be declared “Official” no matter
what flag is displayed.
B. When the
checkered flag is given to the leader, the balance of
the field receives the checkered flag in the same lap.
Finishing positions will be paid according to the most
laps traveled in the least time, regardless of whether
the car is running or not.
C. The
driver receiving the checkered flag first in any feature
race, plus those directed to by the NASCAR official in
charge, must bring his car to the start line or
designated post race tech area and remains there until
released by the NASCAR official in charge of the event.
D. If the
race leader is intentionally spun out by any car on the
white flag lap, the official winner of the event will be
the car that was offended, with the offending car being
scored as last car on lead lap.
9.
COMPLETE RESTART FLAG
A.
When a yellow or red flag is displayed on the
first lap, the “original
restart” flag (red with white square) will be shown.

that are able to continue will
line up in their original starting
positions.
10.
BLOCKING
A. In some
cases, the starter will warn you to select a lane as you
are being challenged by a signal. If driver does not
select a lane, the starter will make an indication on
the second pass of the finish line. By the third lap,
the starter has the option of displaying the black flag.
B. In all
cases, intentional blocking will not be tolerated and
the black flag may be used without warning.
11.
MISCELLANEOUS
A. Display of Black and Red flags together signals end
of practice – clear the track.
B. Once you
have entered the racetrack for an event you are expected
to be prepared to race. At any time you enter pit road,
you start at the back of the field
upon your return.
C. Any car
that enters the lower pits may not rejoin the field
without expressed permission to do so by the official in
charge.
D. All
flags will be final… however; in extreme cases the
starter may inadvertently display a flag signal by
mistake. If this should occur, then it will be the Race
Director’s decision to rescind the flag and revert back
to the last complete green lap or carry on with the race
as if the flag were never displayed.
E. Do not
stop or argue with the starter, his decision and those
of the track officials are final. Failure to proceed
when instructed to may result in
disqualification.
