Section 11 S.T.A.R.T. TIRE PROCEDURES & RULES

1.             LATE MODEL TIRE RULES

1.1  Late Models may purchase six (6) new race tires at the first point’s event

1.2  Late Models may purchase four (4) new race tires on second point’s event and every point’s event there after.

1.3  Late Models may purchase six (6) new race tires on race events one hundred and twenty five (125) laps.  Unless specified by technical bulletin.

1.4  Late Models may purchase eight (8) new race tires on race events three hundred (300) laps.  Unless specified by technical bulletin.

2.             SUPER TRUCK TIRE RULES

2.1  Super Trucks may purchase four (4) new race tires at the first forty (40) lap point’s event.

2.2  Super Trucks may purchase two (2) new race tires on second forty (40) lap point’s event and every forty (40) lap point’s event there after.

2.3  Super Trucks may purchase six (6) new race tires on races seventy-five (75) laps or more in length.  Unless specified by technical bulletin.

2.4  Any team that competes on a two (2) tire week that does not have two (2) used tires from previous weeks competition, may purchase four (4) new race

tires but must start event from rear of field.

2.5  For a Super Truck team to be eligible to purchase two (2) new race tires on a two (2) tire week, the driver must have completed the previous two (2) tires

week for at least fifteen (15) laps and must run the two (2) used tires from previous week. EIRI

3.             GRAND NATIONAL SPORTSMAN TIRE RULES

3.1  Grand National Sportsman may purchase four (4) new race tires at the first thirty (30) lap point’s event.

3.2  Grand National Sportsman may purchase two (2) new race tires at second thirty (30) lap point’s event and every thirty (30) lap point’s event there after.

3.3  Grand National Sportsman may purchase four (4) new race tires on races fifty (50) laps or more in length.  Unless specified by technical bulletin.

3.4  Any team that competes on a two (2) tire week that does not have two (2) used tires from previous weeks competition, may purchase four (4) new race

tires but must start event from rear of field.

3.5  For a Grand National Sportsman team to be eligible to purchase two (2) new race tires on a two (2) tire week, the driver must have completed the

previous two (2) tire week for at least fifteen (15) laps and must run the two (2) used tires from previous week. EIRI

4.             GENERAL TIRE RULES

4.1  Tires must be purchased, verified and registered through Music City Motorplex Tire Sales. Receipts and verification may be required. Undocumented,

unauthorized or unmarked tires will result in immediate disqualification, loss of points and monies earned and confiscation of tires. All penalties will be levied at discretion of the Tire Marshal and/or Competition Director.

4.2  Tires follow the driver, not the car. Exceptions may apply with approval of Tire Marshal and/or the Competition Director.

4.3  Any system of heating, soaking, sipping, grinding, buffing or changing the composition and / or character of the tire is not allowed.

4.4  A minimum “tire softness” will be declared each race night. “Soft” tires will be confiscated and drilled.

4.5  Teams may purchase “practice tires” at any time and used as “practice only.”

4.6  Practice tires may not be on the car at any time during qualifying or race.

4.7  Penalties subject to discretion of officials.

4.8  Tires may be purchased at any time during the tire barn hours, however race tires will remain in tire impound until race day.

4.9  Competitors must sign-out the tires that they purchase and sign out the tires once they leave the tire barn and/or tire trailer.

4.10  Before qualifying, while in line, all tires will be checked by derometer and must meet Hoosier’s minimum specifications.  Any TIRE that does not meet the

specifications will not be allowed to compete/qualify.

4.11  During post race inspection, all vehicles are subject to at least one tire being inspected.

4.12  If during the post race inspection, a tire is found to be illegal, all other tires are subject to be inspected.

4.13  If tires are found to be illegal, a one (1) race event suspension plus a $175 fine for each illegal tire will be enforced.

4.14  NASCAR divisions must start race on same tires as qualified on.  Unless specified by technical bulletin.

4.14 Super Trucks and Grand National Sportsman Damage Tire Rules– Limit Once per Race Event – All tires must be inspected by Division Official or

Competition Director BEFORE changing:

§ Before Qualifying – damage a new tire, may purchase a new tire with no penalty

§ Before Qualifying – damage a used tire, may purchase a new tire with rear start, regardless of qualifying position

§ Before Qualifying – damage a used tire, may replace with different used tire with no penalty

§ After Qualifying – damage a new tire, may purchase new tire with rear start; may choose used tire and hold position

§ After Qualifying – damage a used tire, may replace with used tire with no penalty

4.15  Unless stated in technical bulletin, all competitors must start race on same tires as qualified on.

4.16  During post race and/or post qualifying inspection, if a competitor’s tire(s) pressure is twenty (20) pounds or less, track officials will determine that tire to be damaged and allow the competitor to either air up the tire to its appropriate air pressure or replace the damaged tire with one undamaged.
