Music City Motorplex 2008 Rules

A Walk Through the Day at the Races   print

1.     It is best to register your car the week before you intend to compete although not mandatory. Go to the MCM office (second floor in grandstand offices). Tell the MCM staff member on hand that you are ready to begin racing. Fill out the forms you receive, remember-minors will need additional special forms. Upon payment of registration, you will be assigned a number for your race car.

2.     On the day you are ready to race, enter the fairgrounds at the “5 points” gate at the corner of Craighead and Bransford (on Sundays during flea market weekends, the gate on Craighead will be open) and then proceed to the “Pit Shack” and register for the night. Prior to every race event it is necessary to secure a “Pit Pass” for entry. You must read and sign the “waiver and release”. You may take a waiver and release form with you to read at any time. Proceed to your reserved pit stall or the area of the pits designated for your type of race car, the gate man will be able to show and tell you where.  Some teams/divisions will be required to park in the back pit area due to the lack of space inside the track.

3.      If this is your first time racing at the Motorplex in 2008, please take your car to the tech inspection area designated for your division (1/4 mile divisions in rear pit lot beside the tunnel and the NASCAR divisions inside the ¼ mile track).  Locate the race line-up board. It is on the ¼ trackside of the Competition office. It is from this board that the line-ups and the order of races are posted.

4.        Now... It’s time to Hot Lap. Get in your car, get ready to race - belts, helmet, and uniform in place - proceed to pit road with your division and follow the instructions of the official. Never enter the racing surface without authority.  It is currently the procedure to pull to the inside groove of the track and take several slow laps familiarizing yourself with the track. When you feel ready, and green light and flag are shown, speed-up and move into the upper grooves.***NOTE: AT ALL TIMES WHILE ON THE TRACK - BE AWARE OF WHAT IS GOING ON AROUND YOU - WATCH THE FLAGMAN, THE CONTROL SIGNALS, AND THE TRAFFIC.

5.       Attend the Drivers Meeting.  The meeting is held inside the ¼ mile track and is required for all drivers.  Spotters for the 5/8 mile divisions are also required to attend.  Listen and pay attention.  Don’t be afraid to ask questions.

6.       After hot laps, return to your pit and wait for your division to be called for your qualifying or feature race as posted on the line-up board. It is your responsibility to be ready to race when your division is scheduled - YOU WILL NOT BE CALLED INDIVIDUALLY.  If your division is qualifying, if will have 15 minutes to get into line once your division is called up.

7.       THE BIG MOMENT...One thing we can’t tell you is how to race so do your best but remember the following items. Watch the flagman...Know

what the flags mean...be alert and be aware...and GOOD LUCK! Have Respect for the track and other’s property.

8.       Read the rule book, know all the rules, have fun, and if you don’t know...ASK!
