OSR Legends To Race At Music City Motorplex In July

Nashville, TN (May 1st, 2008) - As part of the 50 years of asphalt racing in Nashville, TN, Music City Motorplex along with help from Old School Racing founders Norm and Gene Weaver, will hold a race for the racing legends at the Music City Motorplex on Friday July 18, 2008. The race will feature such drivers as Geoff Bodine, Dave Marcis, Jack Ingram, Larry Pollard, Joe Ruttman, and Jimmy Hensley. Many of the legends will be on had for the festivities the rest of the weekend.

The race which will start at 8:15 p.m. will be a 35 lap feature. In addition drivers will compete for one of the prized Copley guitars, one of the most recognized and renowned trophies in the United States.

"It is great that Norm and I can be part of this great event," said Gene Weaver. "We know that there will be a great turn out to see these legends on the track again."

There will be an autograph session at 6:45 p.m.; this will be right after qualifying so the fans will still feel the heat of the engines.

The Music City Motorplex has a great racing tradition and this year marks the 50th year of racing at the famed high banked short track in Nashville. The big birthday celebration will be kicked off with the inaugural Old School Racing event July 18, followed on July 19th by the Strutmasters.com 150, a NASCAR Camping World Series event presented by Dollar General and the CRA Super Late Model 150 on July 20.

In addition to the race that will have the "old school" drivers competing, there will also be another race that night that will include some of the great local talent on display.

“We are excited to be a part of the "Old School" program. What better way to celebrate our rich history of motorsports entertainment than to have some of the Legends of NASCAR kick off our birthday 50th party with not only an autograph session, but to see them compete as well. We believe this is the "Don't Miss" event of the season’ said Ron Jennett, General Manager of Music City Motorplex.

Tickets to this great event are now on sale and pre race tickets can be purchased by going to www.ticketmaster.com and searching for Music City Motorplex. Advance purchase tickets are $15 for Friday or Saturday and $12 for Sunday. Gate Advance purchase tickets are $20 for Friday or Saturday and $15 for Sunday.
